Seeking volunteers in Saitama and Kanagawa areas
We, the Second Harvest Japan, are extending our effort to the Saitama and Kanagawa area.
In order to do so, we are looking for volunteers to help us in those areas!
Volunteer wanted in Saitama and Kanagawa areas!
We are looking for volunteers who can help us regularly in the Saitama area which is our hub for food distribution for Second Harvest Japan, and in the Kanagawa area which is the center for our activities in the western region.
(1)Volunteer in the Saitama area
【Location】
311-2 Ukizuka, Yashio-city, Saitama Prefecture
(17 min walk from Rokucho station of Tsukuba Express, by bus from Yashio station or by bus from Ayase station of JR or Tokyo Metro)
【Activity Detail】
1. 【Urgent】Warehouse Management
Receive food delivery, organize the warehouse and handle requests when the welfare facilities come to the warehouse to pick up food. (Involves some heavy lifting)
2. 【Urgent】Warehouse office administration
Conduct the overall office administration including inventory management. (Involves some light physical duties and computer work)
3. 【Wanted any time】Drivers
Drive the 2HJ’s owned truck (4-ton manual transmission freezer vehicle) to pick up the donated food or to deliver to other 2HJ offices or welfare facilities. (Day of week and time can be negotiated)
4. 【Wanted any time】Driver’s Club
Drive your own vehicles to deliver food to places including welfare facilities
5. 【Wanted any time】Pantry work
Prepare and service to those who come to pick up food (Saturday 1:00-4:30pm)
【Highlights】
・This is our biggest warehouse in 2HJ! You will be able to immerse in the dynamic, logistics work environment by being a part of our activity hub.
・As a truck driver for 2HJ, you will be able to work with a food warehouse which is often not open for public. Also, you will be a part of the heartwarming experience of delivering food to welfare communities.
・Those who perform duties at the warehouse can also enjoy working with the facilities and organizations coming to receive the food.
【Qualifications】
・You need to be able to participate regularly; more than twice a month.
・For 1 to 3, you need to be able to participate on Mondays or Thursdays. For 4, you need to be able to participate on Saturdays.
*If you wish to participate, but are unable to do so on the above dates, please contact us.
・You need to be able to converse, write and read in Japanese
(Information below only applies to drivers and driver’s club)
・You need to be able to volunteer at the 2HJ office in Asakurabashi for training (Approximately 6 visits for training and the duration of training may vary depending on the work)
・(For drivers) You need to have a driver’s license that allows you to drive legally on the vehicle that you plan to drive. *In case of the 2HJ’s vehicles, you need a regular driver’s license for manual vehicles. For those who have a license issued after June 2007 (under the new system), a middle-class license may be needed.
(Information below only applies to drivers and driver’s club)
・You need to have a voluntary insurance on the vehicle planned to be used for unlimited bodily and property damages

② Volunteer in the Kanagawa area
【Location】
1-14-18 Daikan, Yamato-city, Kanagawa Prefecture (12 min walk from Sakuragaoka station of Odakyu Enoshima line)
【Activity detail】
1. Driver & Driver Assistant
Drive the 2HJ’s owned van (2-ton manual transmission vehicle) to pick up the donated food or to deliver to welfare facilities.
2. Driver’s Club
Drive your own vehicles to pick up donated food or deliver to places including welfare facilities
3. Warehouse management & administration
Load and unload food, inventory management, the overall warehouse administrative duties including data entries and handle requests when the welfare facilities come to the warehouse to pick up food.
【Qualifications】

・You need to be able to converse, write and read in Japanese
