The Fifth Food Bank Symposium Was A Success

On October, 9 2012, the Fifth Food Bank Symposium was held at Chuo University’s Surugadai Memorial Hall in Ochanomizu.



For the first time, 2HJ held an all day program.  110 people participated from around the country. We gave presentations about Food Banking from the perspective of corporations and institutions. We also answered questions posed by the participants. Furthermore, we discussed how the food manufacturing and distribution industry is making efforts to relax the 1/3 Rule, with is a huge cause of food waste.  We hope to take this opportunity to not only reduce the amount of food being wasted, but also to spread awareness of food banking, as well as to gain an understanding of how to support people in need.
